SK Boxing Promotions’ inaugural event in Edinburgh was a great success – with the crowd being treated to 8 excellent semi-professional contests and 1 exhibition bout (a result of a last minute injury to one of the scheduled boxers).
Fight of the night was the Cruiserweight clash between Dunfermline’s Gordon “The Bull” Brennan and Newcastle’s James “Gypsy” McCrory. Brennan boxed a very intelligent fight and kept his defence tight while working in short flashy bursts. After 4 rounds, and with the crowd on their feet, Brennan was declared the winner – and McCrory had won over new fans in the pro-Brennan crowd with his exciting style of boxing.
The top of the bill encounter between Glasgow’s Thomas “The Assassin” Graham and Edinburgh’s Chris “No Quarter” Givan was also an excellent contest. Graham had stepped in at short notice after Givan’s scheduled opponent was ruled out due to illness. Graham pushed Givan hard throughout but the Edinburgh man ran out the winner on points – and claimed the vacant BBU Scottish Light-Welterweight title in the process.
